2019 Review

This has been quite a year for Jorge and me.  So much has happened that I wanted to sit down and think about everything that has happened to us as we close the year.

In January, Jorge surprised me with a dog.  Her name is Lucy and she is four years old.  Lucy was my Christmas present but it was not until in January that I was able to get her.  She is a rescue dog.  Lucy is half Jack Russell Terrier and half Australian Shepherd.  She is really cute but boy, she has the energy of the Jack Russell.  She is definitely my dog.  She loves Jorge but if she had to choose, I would win.  Jorge even recognizes that she is my dog.  She has gone on many long distance trips with us.  She is a very sweet girl.

Getting to spend time with our son, daughter-in-law and granddaughter before they left for Niger was wonderful.  We went to Washington DC for the weeekend.  Lucy came with us for this trip.  David and Amber took us to a few places of interest.  Jorge and I even got to spend the day with Elena, our granddaughter, so that David and Amber could get their things packed for their move to Africa.  Yes, that was hard for us because we knew that we wouldn't be able to see them as much as we would like to.

I finally was able to attend the Sports Riding Motorcycle School.  There were seven sessions and after each session, the class was able to  given the opportunity to ride the track.  I was finally to conquer my fear of curves.  Being with friends was an added bonus.  Their words of encouragement also helped me.

In May, I was given the biggest surprise.  Chris, my youngest son flew from Indiana to Florida for Mother's Day weekend.  Jorge was in on it and so were my bosses.  Chris comes into my office and surprises me.  But Chris also brought someone very special.  Her name is Amanda and Jorge and I got to meet her.  What she didn't realize was that she was going to be at the receiving end of a surprise just for her.  On Friday morning before sunrise, we all head out to the beach so that Chris could propose to Amanda as the sun was rising in the back.  Jorge and I were beyond happy that we were gaining another wonderful and beautiful family member.

In June, I was finally able to go on my first mission trip.  I went to Tuxtepec Mexico with several other people from my church.  We got to go to several different villages during the week that we were there.  I most definitely want to go back again.  I fell in love with the people

October was a wonderful month for us because that is when Chris and Amanda got married.  She looked absolutely beautiful.  Did I cry?  Yes I did but they were very happy tears.  Elena was one of the flower girls along with Amanda's niece and nephew.  Elena had done well the day before at the rehearsal but on the day of the wedding, she changed her mind and was not wanting to drop the petals.  At least she didn't cry as she was walking down the aisle with her dad.  It was a wonderful day.

But the biggest change that happened to us was when Jorge received an email from one of the Project Managers of Allison Transmission to see if he would be interested in coming back to work for them.  Jorge had never sought out the job.  We both talked about it and prayed.  He sent his resume and the week of the wedding, he had a face to face interview.  We also saw that my mom's health was not good at all and my brother was dealing with his own health issues.  That is when we realize that if the job with Allison works out, we would take it.  It took ten days before we heard from Allison with the job offer.  Those were the hardest days for me.  I was on pins and needles.  Jorge was much more calm.  Needless to say, the offer came and Jorge said yes.

We sold our house in a day to Open Door and they made us a very good offer.  That was a load of our shoulders.  We decided to pack some things we didn't want to get lost or stolen.  So we loaded up our motorhome, trailer, Suburban, and the U-Haul trailer and we get on the road.  Unfortunately, the motorhome didn't make it to Indiana.  We had to leave it in Ringgold, Georgia.  God took care of us and we found a shop that deals with diesel engines and they are working on it.  When we finally arrive to our house, there was a wonderful sign on our garage door welcoming us home.  I broke down in tears.

The phrase "Old Things Are New Again" certainly applies to us.  We moved back to our old house since the renters left in May.  Jorge and I are updating the house and I'm excited about the changes we'll be doing on the house.  We are back to our old church.  Jorge is back with the company he used to work for before and in the same building.

So this has been quite a year for us.  Lots of changes.  I miss the friends that we made in Florida.  I miss our dear sweet neighbors, Tom and Connie.  I miss the church that we were active in.  I know that God had sent us there for a reason.  We thought that we were going to be there forever but God had other plans.  We are now back in Indiana and looking forward to what 2020 will hold for us.
